If this is your first time buying a home, you need to have someone you trust by your side. You need a partner! No, I’m not talking about a romantic partner. I’m talking about your REALTOR! Your realtor is your guide through the whole process. They’re your advocate and your rock. It is so important to choose the right person for the job! Here are three of the most important questions to ask your realtor before you get started.
How long have you lived in this area?
This shows you how well your realtor knows the market. If they have lived here long, they will know the school systems, where the good neighborhoods are, and will be able to answer questions about almost any aspect of the city.
What is your schedule?
What you’re really asking is how engaged your realtor will be with you. Are they are a part-time realtor? Do they have a full-time, or second job, or will they be able to focus all of their efforts on helping you achieve your real estate goals?
What are you going to do for me?
Your real estate agent should know everything you are looking for in your dream home. He or she will be your guide from the initial contact to the time you close. They will set up appointments for homes you want to see. Your realtor will set you up with lenders, walk you through inspections, negotiate on your behalf, and be your overall advocate.
A great realtor will keep on top of everything so you don’t have to.
